United States v. Approximately 64,695 Pounds of Shark Fins
The Ninth Circuit recently ruled on a case with the best name in the history of American law: United States v. Approximately 64,695 Pounds of Shark Fins.

no one tell dave barry about that.
Did the shark fins win? I'm not sure I understand the legalese.
They did, oddly.
it's an archaic old formality to name cases against the forfeited property the government seeks to take ... hence the fins. since the seizure was ruled improper, the fins were indeed the victors.
Definitely funnier than United States v. 12 200-Ft. Reels of Film, 413 U.S. 123 (1972).
it's the 'approximately' that does it, imho.
Oh no, its the shark fins. But Approx. 64,695 pounds of smoked gouda would, admittedly, be uproarious.
