Hotel Chevalier, Wes Anderson's 13-minute short starring Jason Schwartzman and Natalie Portman, and described as "Part 1 of The Darjeeling Limited" in the credits, is now available for free on iTunes. It's a refreshingly calm change of pace for Anderson, but doesn't really reveal much about the upcoming feature.

Evidence, a short film by Godfrey Reggio depicting entranced children. I've wanted to see this for awhile now, and only this weekend found it on YouTube. The title is definitely an overstatement.

I missed the beginning of last night's Oscars ceremony, so I tracked down Errol Morris's short interviewing the nominees on the official website. Poor, poor Peter O'Toole.

Someone has put up the classic 1977 short Powers of Ten on youtube. Starting with a park in Chicago, the film zooms out 10x every 10 seconds, zooming past such things as Earth, the solar system, the Milky Way, and a large part of the Universe. Then it zooms back into an atom in the hand of a picnicker in the park.

Neat stop-motion video art by Keith Fullerton Whitman (a former neighbor of mine). He played the third one, Phase, when he opened for The Books in Boston this past Spring. Once you get past the first few minutes, you'll begin to see what he describes as "short motion studies." (via mmillions)
