Paramount has agreed not to show the Scientology/Cruise episode of South Park again, after Cruise lodged a complaint. What's nearsighted about this article is that it presumes Cruise is upset about the "come out of the closet" aspect of the episode, when I'm pretty sure he's upset about the staid mockery of his chosen religion.

Two guardedly positive reviews of Brokeback Mountain from Christian publications. It's sort of the opposite of the Seinfeld catchphrase: This movie is pretty well-made and about a gay relationship, not that there's anything right with that. (via as)
Update:The Catholic church and media got very upset over that first review.

Gay culture is dying, says Andrew Sullivan in a long New Republic essay. "For many in the gay world, this is both a triumph and a threat. It is a triumph because it is what we always dreamed of: a world in which being gay is a nonissue among our families, friends, and neighbors. But it is a threat in the way that all loss is a threat."
