Prop 8 - The Musical, starring Jack Black, Allison Janney, John C. Reilly, and many more. This is quite literally the definition of "singing to the converted" but it's actually quite succinct.

Today is the last day you can donate to the No On 8 campaign to defeat California's Proposition 8, which would eliminate marriage rights for same-sex couples in that state. Help end legal discrimination by sending them a Halloween treat.

The Salt Lake Tribune has a fascinating article about the divisions in the Mormon church as a result of their vigorous fight to pass California's Prop 8, which would end gay marriage in the state. The church and its members have already spent millions of dollars in support of the initiative, and it has become a common subject of sermons during their services. (via andrew sullivan)

Governor Schwarzenegger backs the California Supreme Court's gay marriage decision and does not support the amendment to overturn it. Considering Romney's actions after Massachusett's similar ruling, Schwarzenegger is a liberal hero.

Woohoo!:
The California Supreme Court has overturned a ban on gay marriage, paving the way for California to become the second state where gay and lesbian residents can marry.
I was in Massachusetts when it was overturned there, and am now 10 miles away from the second state. Let's hope that California voters don't pass a constitutional ban in November. (4) #5/15/2008

The Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts has upheld the 1913 law that invalidates marriages of residents from other states where the marriage would be considered unlawful. The law was originally put in place to stop interracial marriages from states where such marriages were unlawful (i.e., the law was founded on an unconstitutional situation). Nonetheless, it appears that the SJC believes the law should be repealed, if at all, by the legislature and not by the judiciary. However, it remains to be seen whether residents from states without explicit anti-gay-marriage laws (e.g., New York and Rhode Island) are unfairly restricted by the 1913 law.
