the daily show

  • A short profile on Adam Chodikoff, The Daily Show's chief researcher. He's the guy that, e.g., digs up that obscure six-year-old clip used to underscore the hypocrisy of a politician's recent statement. (via fimoculous) (0) #

  • If you missed The Daily Show last night, you missed some of the sharpest political commentary Jon Stewart has made in a long while, about the justifications the Clinton campaign is making for staying in the race. You can watch it here. (27) #

  • Now that The Daily Show with Jon Stewart has full archives online, I was able to go back and find one of my favorite low-brow moments from August 3, 2000. (It starts at about 2:17.) (15) #

  • Variety is reporting that new episodes of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report will be returning to Comedy Central on January 7th, 2008.
[T]he shows will try to work around the missing writers (and the guild rules that bar anything that's traditionally the domain of scribes) by relying heavily on pretaped segments from the field.

  • I've been missing The Daily Show already, and am afraid that we might have to go through the primary season without it. In the meantime, enjoy this YouTube-only special episode of Not the Daily Show, hosted by one of Jon Stewart's writers (and with a special guest). (0) #

  • Last night's The Daily Show, covering the Burmese protests and the government's violent response, pettily made fun of Bush for calling the country Burma instead of Myanmar, without hinting at any controversy. It is true that the UN has been calling the country Myanmar for the past few decades, but, as you can read in this Wikipedia entry, the name of the country is hotly debated and weighted heavily with politics. I was a little disappointed, as The Daily Show is usually on top of these things. (20) #
