A friend of mine who is a member of the Writers Guild of America is blogging the strike. She includes lots of pictures of union writers marching around with signs.

Errol Morris has a new blog about photography, although it could disappear behind the New York Times pay wall at any moment.
Pictures may be worth a thousand words, but there are two words that you can never apply to them: “true” and “false.”
His upcoming Abu Ghraib project will likely deal with the meaning of photography. (2) #7/25/2007

Prescriptivists take note: Language Log is a fun blog about language, specializing in debunking myths and making fun of those who misuse it.

TechPresident, a group blog covering the use of technology by 2008 presidential campaigns, officially launched today. They have some cool features, such as a pool of every candidate's Flickr pictures, and MySpace rankings tracking the number of friends each candidate has on their MySpace page, including the rate of change. Disclosure: I recently started working for Advomatic, the company behind the implementation of this site. More on that later.

FanTent, the product of the same mind that brought you Snakes on a Blog (and a frequent crazymonk.org commenter), is beginning to come into its own. Check out today's collection of fan-made art based on the Aqua Teen Hunger Force, er, threat in Boston. (1) #

Amanda Palmer, of The Dresden Dolls, blogs about her recent reprisal of her role as "The Bride" in Harvard Square. This one is really for those that remember seeing her street performances in Harvard Square in the late 90's, back before her band acquired some fame.

David Plotz of Slate is blogging the bible from a non-religious, uninformed point of view. Here's his take on the beginning, from Creation to the Flood.

A piece on the relationship between blogs and marketing. Seriously, I'm only linking to this because snakesonablog.com is discussed heavily in the article.

Hoder, the famous Iranian blogger, was refused entry in the United States after border patrol Googled his blog onsite and learned he was living in New York City. Farsi is the 4th most popular language used on blogs, so the title I gave him is no joke. But I'm glad at least that border patrol is competent enough to use the web effectively.

The Las Vegas Gleaner is a progressive blog about Las Vegas and Nevada politics. I'm ashamed that I only discovered it now, via an article in City Life, one of the alternative weeklies here.

Give 'Em Hell Harry.com
Harry Reid, my new senior Senator, has become the first congressional leader with a blog: giveemhellharry.com. The first few posts indicate that he won't so much be giving them hell as much as giving them the usual detail- and reason-free partisan complaints. C'mon, Harry, check out some good political blogs and give 'em real hell.
Note that we started blogging around the same date -- who will stand the test of time?
