The next Democratic SCOTUS nomination

An interesting speculative shortlist of who would might be nominated next for the Supreme Court if a Democratic candidate wins the presidency in 2008. Massachusetts governor Deval Patrick, Harvard Law School Dean Elena Kagan, and even Barack Obama makes the list.

Actually, Seth Waxman *is* on the list. Not on the first tier list, but on the full list in the PDF.

I would not be interested in a liberal version of Scalia. I like to think we could do better.

Scalia is generally very smart and pretty funny. He's not a terrible person to emulate. If his views on moral-stuff weren't determined by his Catholicism, he'd be decent. His opinion in Kyllo was awesome! He just needs to get to know a few gay abortionists and he'll be ok.
