Lessig not running

After serious consideration, Lawrence Lessig has decided not to run for Congress. He has posted a five minute video explaining why. However, he's still full steam ahead with his recently announced Change Congress movement.

Bah. Without having watched the video, let me take this opportunity to decry his decision.

I decry!

Seriously, this was a good idea. Why did he bother floating it for five minutes and then walk away? Thinking he was just trying to snag some attention for his Change Congress PAC?

Watch the video. He hired a pollster, the pollster told him he didn't stand a chance.

I don't like it when people make videos to explain stuff they could explain with a few written paragraphs. I'm trying to decide whether this is legit or a "you damn kids get off my lawn!" reaction. In either case, I can't skim a video, so I watch fewer of them.

I agree with Lorelei on videos.

Could he have started this campaign earlier? The guy who died was retiring anyway, right?

Yes, he could have. But my guess is that Lantos's death caught the eye of Lessig's high-profile friends, who then pushed for him to run.

I have no problems with videos, but it'd be nice if Lessig posted transcripts at the same time.
