County conventions matter
U.S. Sen. Barack Obama has won 59 percent of the Washoe County convention delegates, despite having won just 51 percent of the Washoe County votes in the caucuses. U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton failed to turn out enough volunteers to fill all of the county delegate spots she won in the caucuses.
I was one of the alternate delegates for Obama who replaced a Clinton delegate. Tomorrow, I'll write more about my day today, which included both the county convention and a Westboro Baptist protest and counter-protest. Good times.

I won't be in that picture, because I was at the Washoe County convention in Reno, not the Clark County convention in Vegas (which was disbanded because too many people showed up).
Jon, I actually cannot go to the national convention, although I could have gone for it with a little more effort. But to go to the national, you have to be elected a delegate at both the county and state level -- I was not elected as a delegate, but chose to go as an alternate, so I could do what I did (i.e., get more votes for Obama). And anyway, at most 5 delegates can go to Denver from Washoe, and I'm hardly in the top 5 most active Democrats in my county. (And even more, of those 5 slots, only a few are for males.)
I'm thoroughly confused by all of this. A long explanatory post is needed.
