Sphere
Sphere, a point-and-click game with a single goal: escape from a room. It's annoyingly arbitrary at times, but I like the simplicity of the objective. If you get stuck, here's a walkthrough. (via game|life)

I played this a week ago and had a grand old time beating it. I have on odd fondness for these type of games.
this game pissed me off.....
it's like a graphical version of the old text RPG.
"ye are in a forest. there is a key on yon ground."
"pick up yon key."
"ye can't pick up yon key."
and you have to sit there and wonder about why you can't pick up yon key.
(thnks strongbad)
Man, everyone seems to like these games except me. I never liked Myst either, though, so you can see what camp I fall into. I don't like games where the rules and the objectives are a mystery. You should have seen me freak out when someone tried to play that card game where they won't tell you the rules? Screw that!
Memories of Mao drove me to wikipedia (lots of variants, there are), but even better, to Mornington Crescent:

failure to say have a nice day. I think it was Flea that first introduced me to mau.
Does going to law school give you the same elitist feeling of possessing hidden knowledge about the rules that govern everyday life that mau did?
I remember that 'game' being discussed while I lived in England. Also, I lived near that Tube stop.
