True, the Wire as a whole is a slow burn, but the episode was amazing. Just full of great scenes, great characters, and great juxtaposition. I loved Dookie. He reminded me of that poor kid in Sicily who had poo on his pants. Remeber that kid? The episode was so nice I watched it twice. God what an amazing show. And Season 5 is going to be their last season. Sad, but at least they will write it that way and we will get closure on what is easiest the best show on television. Maybe ever. As long as an odd theater troupe doesn't show up around Baltimore, I am sure it will stay that way.

I don't think we'll ever really know what David Milch planned on doing with the theater troupe, unless the two two-hour episodes remaining deal with them exclusively.

I have not yet seen the Wire-- but will probably watch it. I have come to really like Stephen King's EW columns and he gave the Wire a really strong endorsement.

I think I will take your and his suggestions to check out the Wire. I throughly enjoyed watching Six Feet Under, Entourage, and now Rome (which I am in the middle of and like a lot)-- so HBO seems to be the go-to please for quality programing these days. I like watching the shows on DVD for an instant gratification fix. I will probably head on to the Wire and Deadwood next.

The best way I can describe it is as if watching all of HBO's programs is a little bit like raving about Starbucks and Norah Jones. I dont think it will end at season 5 . It was supposed to end at 4. Although it could , since Marlo's been gettin ripped of by Joe and whe he finds out its all out war.Yet the Greeks will probably go after Marlo for killin Joe. McNulty will remember about the Greeks and bust them. On another note the Greeks run the drugs in the end. And they want the east and the westside he also has the bosses on both sides pickin up of him so he might turn on Joe for being crooked and go after Omar for jackin that shit. Mikey and Dookie are on the come up and they are like a young Stringer and Avon but who knows?
Speaking of Avon his sentence is almost up and him and Marlo reconciled at his sentencing, those two together is some serious shit. whatever thats just my opinion I didnt write the shit so Ill have to wait and see like everyone else.

The fifth season will be about bringing Marlo's crew down. The media aspect will be about the bodies in the vacants. (This was referenced in the last episode of season 4. National media inquiries, and why not.) The major crimes squad will be linking the bodies in the vacants to Chris and Snoop and then to Marlo. Avon could be released (his 3-7 year term is about up) but what does he have left? Prop Joe, Bubbles and Omar will still be involved. And if I'm wrong, you get what you pay for.

To bad for HBO the wire is the only reason i pay that extra few bucks every month when the wire go's so will HBO.

Props to hbo for giving an accurate depiction of life in the streets nowadays, been watching since the show started. Hopefully ratings will go up and show will get extended, All fans spread the word for those that don't know. Tell them to tune in for the 5th season.

With Season 5 focusing on the mass media we will see some interesting angles. I'm looking for the media to perpetuate some myths that will create heroes and villains, although not the ones we would expect to see, given what we witnessed in Season 4.

Marlo will look to expand his power and break away from the co-op. I can see the media affecting Marlo much in the same way Marlo used media (however crude) to affect Randy Wagstaff. I think we will see the media get involved in Randy's situation and turn the tables in his favor.

Overall, I expect Season 5 to focus will on the police investigations, including City Hall, and the effect the mass media will have on how they get their jobs done. Bunny Colvin's project will get media attention, generating funding from sources that would otherwise kill it. We will see the business side of the media, and how they play a key role, in the survival of both Marlo's operation and the surrounding neighborhood.

I would like to see more than 5 seasons, it's such a good show I think they can pull it of, but maybe that's not what they'e going for.I think the media attention will definetely focus on the bodies and bring negative attention to Baltimore, which does not help funding for positive programs or its reputation with the rest of the U.S. I think the "media focus" of the show will show us how much the media manipulates and distorts reality. Unfortunately, that is why what happens in Baltimore and cities like that happens.Years and years of a vicious cycle and everyone is so used to it, prejudiced, tired, scared,lazy,dishonest,greedy and angry that the city gets forgotten.Charities,youth centers,outreach,rehab clinics are all GREAT. Media take away from the reality of it all, making murder reports like 5 minute episodes of CSI.I do like the awareness it brings, but you always have to CONSIDER THE SOURCE.. I think the problem lies in Politics, it rules everything in America and unfortunately the people running the world today are just not concerned enough with places like Baltimore. Mike and Dookie are going to slowly become a force to be reckoned with...unless one of them gets killed first. I think Namond is going to turn his life around but in an ironic twist he'll get shot while visiting his mom or something. Avon is coming home but I don't think he's going to go back into the drug world. And if I remember correctly Kima's ex-girlfriend is a tv reporter or something so she'll probably have a meatier role this season like how Prez went from a minor character to a major one. I love how they do that. It makes the show feel do real. The show won't be back until 2008. That'll give the young boys time to mature a little so that it's believable when we see them as drug kingpins(Michael) and enforcers. The wire is hands down the best show on television.

I am a rabid fan of the Wire, mostly because few shows (the only other one that comes to mind is Homicide) care to research the material enough and generally lack the guile to depict the balanced tragedy of the inner city the way these guys have done for 4 stunning seasons. I have seen and felt so much of what they have put to tape. You would think that someone who's a surgery resident at the University of Maryland & Shock Trauma would have his fill of the Baltimore shitburger just from work. To the contrary; the Wire is the only show that I can watch and feel the efforts of the directorship and writers. Grays Anatomy, ER, House-ALL SUCK THE BIG TIME. They don't care to double and tipple check their facts before they take the final cut. The Wire is the one and only drama show I can swallow. It saddens me to hear that after 5 seasons, it'll be done.

Chris and Snoop has to go down, they kill people at free will and get away with it likes its nothing. Their characters are cool but enough is enough with the killings. Marlo, I like the guy character in the series, he came along way. I like the fact that they brung the kids into this Season 4, I just dont see kenar hustling in reality, A little dude like that would of been kicked off of the streets, matter afact where is his mother lol. Anyway Prop Joe seems like he wants to run the east and the west but there are too many people in the way and he doesnt have enough heart to do anything his self, So im looking forward for him going down. It seems like the kid Michael is going to be a problem in season 5, but comparing his life (crackhead moms, deadbeat pops and a younger brother to look after) in the means streets on B-more, thats how most of young kids in a drug infested area grow up. I absolutely LOVE the wire, like most it's the only reason I pay for HBO, I refuse to believe they are even thinking about ending it at season 5!! The show is hotter than ever, more people are catching on to it. To me The Wire is real "reality tv" not all that planned drama they want you to believe is spontaneous. There are many people who live in those conditions, and they connect personally. I was raised on the "good side" of town so I live the "other side" through the wire. Damn! I didn't even know about the Wire until about two months ago. I've spent some long nights at the suffering of my sleep pattern glued to the screen. This is the best drama series I've ever seen and I agree that waiting until late this year or early next to catch season five is too damn long. Five seasons is not enough, but I'm hoping for a suitable conclusion. Bubbles is the shit! So is Bubbles from the Trailer Park Boys, but that's a whole other genre...but I suggest checking it out. It's the funniest show ever made, aired on Showcase...so you Canadian mofo's know WTF I'm talking about. Don't deny yourself the TPB! It's hard to find good TV these days...with all the "reality" bullshit. My favorite character on the Wire is Omar...he's the baddest and smartest of all of them. I read an interview where the writer said he felt there was no more content after the 5th Season, which will be heavily media oriented and focused on "why things stay the same." But in my opinion, I'd love to see a season based on our faulty jail systems. Maybe let a bunch of Avon's crew out, while he runs things from inside. When does season 5 start?

Im not even apalled at all of the fanatics on here. I became a die hard fan about 4 mos ago, buying all seasons on DVD, and having HBO Demand to catch season 4 any time I damn well please. Everyone has somewhat the same idea or same feel for what's going to happen. But the Wire writers will always throw you for a twist, one that you take to bed with you,one that have you tossing and turning like damn "why they kill Bodie". Micahael, yea he the next something, and Dookie, won't be major, just a behind the brains cat. Omar is that WORK!!!! But anint no one talking bout POLICE..HAHA I aint even from B-MORE and the show got me saying POLICE. McNulty is real police and damn near the best, can't forget Lester or Bunk neither. Avon will play a small part for a few episodes, but he's nothing to worry about. All of his soldiers have come to pass. Keep your enemies closer is the saying. Avon is by far the best character in the show. It sucked that he wasn't in the last season. i have no idea what is going to happen this season but I think it will be a whole lot more interesting when he gets out. Although he is a cut throat boss, he's still a pretty good person. Marlo kills everything, sometimes for no reason. Avon only killed the people that needed to get killed. ie:the rats and the jackers

I really missed McNulty in the last season. Hey, it's all good that he's got is act straightned out, but he should still go on a binge drinking session with Bunk, flirt around and just behaive out of order, at least once in a while... Makes it more fun :-) But I'm pretty sure he will have a more interesting part in this final season as he can't keep is hands from a great case such as the vacants'..

Wow, what a show. This show is THE best crime drama I have ever seen out of the US. The only other show that had a similiar edge was Homicide life on the street, which was made by the same dude that brought us the Wire.

Making the ghetto story work AGAIN is a good acheivement. Both "the drugs game" and the italian mafia story line of shows like the supranos, is tiring us all. Its been done a million times by a million people.

So initially you think what can this show offer me that other shows and films haven't already. When my housemate here in the UK spoke on it I thought "that sounds kind of wack". What makes the wire such an amazing show is the authenticity of it. The lingo, the style etc, the cast. The story line isn't ground breaking when you think about it. Throughout the four seasons so far I often asked myself what is it I like about this show so damn much.

The show is made by a police reporter David Simon, someone who has tuned right into the street, not some hollywood producer who has never spent a single day out there.

There is only one season left guys. What do we do then. We are all hanging like bubbles waiting for our next fix. I suggest we keep our ears to the street for David Simon.

The Wire, The Wire, The Wire. Like yall all said, once the wire is gone so is HBO. True Indeed, cause once when season 4 was done so was my HBO subscription. But right when it comes back I will be just as loyal. So much opinion to add...and not enough space. The wire is so magically refined. There is no other show like it. I am dying to watch season 5. I watch re-runs just cause I love the shit so damn much and need at least something to hold me over.

I can't wait till' season 5 comes out. I felt a little bad for Bodie in season 4 but I think he deserved it after what he and Poot did to Wallace in the 1st season. Chris and Snoop will probably go down but I hope not because I like them. I think Dukie will start snitchin'. I think Avon will start a new crew and Prop Joe and Slim Charles and all them other co-op cats will side with Avon but will go after the main prey 1st which is no other than Omar. I think they'll kill Omar off early around like the 5th episode and he'll be trying to hit a lick on Avon and like 40 dudes hop out the bushes and Omar and his crew surrenders and Avon walks out and Omar sees his destiny. Avon a shoot Omar in the head then the new Barksdale orginization will start a war with Marlow which will ultimatley lead to the death of Snoop and Chirs and I beleive Marlow will start snitchin just to add a crazy twist to the show and this time Marlow makes a deal and turns evidence against the whole Co-Op which will lead to a even huger meadia frenzy as most of B-Mores criminal factions are going down and it will be extremely bad for Avon because this time they'll give him life. Marlow will go to prison and he knows he'll be killed and he'll end up getting killed. Now the younger kids will run the streets since most of the OGs are locked up but it won't be the way it once was. It a show like a 5 minute montalouge of what the streets are like now and it will show even more violence happening with the new generation of B-More killers and some majr characters that aint locked up will die incuding Cutty who will get hit by a stray after his gym is shot up then after the montalouge is over they take us back to prison where the former big cats will be talking about how the street is now and how it used to be and for the ones that will be getting out saying how it a no longer be crew vs crew or side vs side but now oldeer generations aka the OGs vs the newer generation aka Mike,Dukie,Kenard , Donut etc. They'll be saying this is just a new phase like it always has been. Their has to be wars to start new revolutions. Then the screen a start fading out over the city of Baltimore and some old dialouge from season 3 where Slim tells Cutty the game the same it's just more violence will end the series. But maybe it a be a cliffhanger and the show won't ebd hopefully

i think marlo, chris, snoop, michael, dookie and the whole rest of the crew will rise up, but not for so long. Avon will come back get some more new crews luitenents and soldiers and do wat they do best and become successful. Omar my boy will survive this season obviously because he is pretty much unbeatable. He will still rob the barksdales stash house or maybe he will find some other niggas to rob.
And the cops will loose one maybe two officers in season five

1st of all i advise any1 that hasnt seen the wire...or all of its seasons up2date 2 quit readin this forum... why u mite ask?...bc im 1 that recently stated watchin the wire....like last year...so i started and got hooked on the 4th season w/out seeing thee other seasons...i immediately purchased the 1st 3 seasons last mth...and im halfway thru the 2nd season....and i come on this lovely forum here just 2 have every1 ruin the rest 4me....and i mean u guys ruined it....lol...damn 4real...didnt know that stringer was gettin killed...anyhow...like every1 else has said...this is by far the best tvshow ive seen in along long time...ive gotten hooked and have gotten other ppl hooked...and i swear 2 God if they end this show after just 5 seasons..ill flip...theres noway they can...there just 2much more that they culd do....besides if this show has fans like us and millions others and the show sees that?...theres noway they culd endit....popular demand will keep it alive..also...was it mike or not that kills bodie?..every1s sayin diff...imean it sorta looked liked michael and it wuld make sense if it was him..but idk...imean dude had a hoodon..o yea and mcnulty is a damn pimp...he got more ass that any1 on that show...i love all the detectives...thats a 1st also on a show...all the characters and there roles is wat makes this show the Best...

so..i am a fan of the wire also. and I was justing poking around to try and find out when it is coming back on. But come one people....there is a whole world out there that you can LIVE in, rather than live through your tv. I am little concerned the way you all speak, like you live in baltimore and live the show. IT IS WORDS ON PAPER...NOT REAL>
