Ebert on his recovery
Roger Ebert writes his first public missive regarding his recovery from salivary cancer and the subsequent blood vessel rupture. I've sorely missed his presence during the past six weeks -- I've been reading him regularly for well over ten years now.

I too have been reading him for years, and it has been hard. Every friday I would find myself wondering whoose film reviews I would read. I read the New York Times, but I hate one of the reviewers there (her name is Margola Dargis and she sucks. She sucked when she reived for the LA Weekly as well).
If Ebert ever does go the way of Siskel, it will be a sad day.
Ever? He ain't immortal.
blasphemer! ebert is eternal!
I meant when. But perhaps a computer program can be made that inputs Ebert's likes and dislikes in film and it can extrapolate his review from that. For example, if Neve Campbell is in the film, or girl-on-girl action, then program Ebert will be more likely to like it. I think this would work.
This issue with that, of course, is that I don't read Ebert for his opinions -- I read him for his writing.
Ah... Interesting crazymonk. His writing is
pretty good, and his opinions are somewhat
off cue (at least for me sometimes), but I doubt
that they don't affect you in some way. While
we are one the case of critics, I have decided that
I don't like EW's ask the critic column. Critics
have come to view themselves a little too scholarly I
believe. I do wonder if they make up the questions
themselves, or if there really are feeble minds writing in asking questions.
