Democrats: Not as lame as you think
Washington Monthly editor Amy Sullivan points out that Democrats are not as lame as you think. Hmm, I didn't know that the Contract for America was announced merely six weeks before the midterm elections in 1994.

I read most of the article... and I still think the Democrats are pretty lame despite some minor accomplishments.
as far as quality of organization goes, the democratic party is a complete and total flop -- a veritable haberdashery of incompetence, chaos and cheap shoes.
would that we could have a multi-party system, or at least one party that wasn't either a) dumb or b) evil.
bring back the bull moose! nix the gold standard! no child labor! fair minimum wages for the factory-fueling female!
on a serious note, i was watching the sunday talkies a few weeks ago, and one party analyst quoted Newt as saying that if he ran the democratic party, the midterm slogan would be "Had Enough?" and that's it. brilliant, sums it up in two words. that exact analyst then said "i don't know if it should be that, but it should be something along the lines of: what's happening now isn't working, let's get some new ideas in here and blah blah blah."
amazing. amazing how they just don't get it.
On a rare moment, you just might be right jbg.
That article really underscored why PR people are bad for our society. It's not the facts that matter, it's who can sell their particular facts to the media most effectively.
Hey, that's what put me through college. Don't bad-mouth it.
...and people call me obnoxious.
Did you just learn how to use the bold tag? It feels like that chapter in Flowers for Algernon when the kid learns what punctuation is for.
i've used the bold tag very often on crzmk's blog, as well as the italicalizing tag, and good ol' fashioned YELLING.
ha.
Yeah, I really just wanted to make a Flowers for Algernon joke.
i steadfastly maintain my right to be a whig
I'm a Tory you bastard!
