Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie seem to me like perfect examples of why meritocracy is absolute bullshit. That said, I've never read Rand.
objectivism seems to mesh nicely with the celebrity thread of scientology. I guess it's all justified elitism at the end of the day.
BOX OFFICE SHRUGGED
Word.
Brad Pitt is very, vert good at what he does. I don't really see his success as a failure of meritocracy.
I didn't say it proves the failure of meritocracy. I said it demonstrates the bullshit of it. But I meant that even moreso to apply to Ms. Jolie.
a travesty.
In my mind, I think of the whole Brad and Angelina thing as somewhat interesting. Did Brad dump Jennifer for Angelina because Jennifer was not enough of an activist? Brad's whole design competition for New Orleans is interesting too. It kind of all reminds me of Hawthorne's book about a Utopian society, the Blithedale Romance. Just like the book, I wonder if Jolie's and Pitt's idealism will eventually fail and they will split up in despair and disheartenment.
