there's a track on Rasputina's "Cabin Fever" called "PJ + Vincent & Matthew + Bjork" about a celebrity double date with Bjork and Barney and PJ Harvey and Vincent Gallo. it is hilarious and well worth a listen. download that shit!
that sounds weird enough to warrant a listen.
if you can't find it, i can mp3 it and send.
The only Rasputina song I listen to is the AWESOME cover of Bad Moon Rising. It's one of those All-Along-The-Watchtower-esque covers that makes you wonder why the original writer doesn't just disavow all ownership of the song and let the person who did it properly own it forever. Nobody wants to hear Bob Dylan sing All Along the Watchtower and I never want to hear Creedance Clearwater Revival sing Bad Moon Rising again.
they do a lot of covers like that. you might like their version of "tourniquet" by marilyn manson.
The rest of her covers don't hit the right combination of musical mood and lyrics to the same level as Bad Moon Rising. The rest are good, but this one's perfect.
For the record, I still wanna hear Bob Dylan sing All Along the Watchtower, eventhough the Hendrix version is "better."
i kind of have a soft spot for watchtower covers, like those by the indigo girls, clapton, neil young, u2,and even dave matthews band. i mean, the latter is obviously very dmb-ish, which i would normally hate, but for some reason in that context it doesn't bug me so much. it's like a magic song. and i still don't really know what it means.
what happened? i tried to post and got a weird rejection, then tried it again and it went through as a duplicate, and now I see "your comment is awaiting moderation" above this entry field. are you doing some larry harris blocking or something?
You somehow triggered the spam/moderation filter. Comment approved.
Probably couldn't get through the Dave Matthews Band filter . . . I mean, I'm not advocating censorship, but there are limits.
i like how "DMB-ish" is only one letter away from "DUMBish"
