Ask a Mexican

From the "Say What?" item in today's Las Vegas Review-Journal:

"Mexicans do not call gringos gringos. Only gringos call gringos gringos. Mexicans call gringos gabachos" -- a sometimes pejorative term derived from a Castillian slur for Frenchman.

GUSTAVO ARELLANO, IN HIS POLITICALLY INCORRECT COLUMN "ASK A MEXICAN" IN CALIFORNIA'S OC WEEKLY. IN THE COLUMN -- ORIGINALLY CRAFTED AS A ONE-TIME SPOOF -- ARELLANO HAS ALSO ANSWERED SUCH QUESTIONS AS "WHAT'S WITH THE MEXICAN NEED TO DISPLAY THE VIRGIN OF GUADALUPE EVERYWHERE" AND "WHY DO MEXICAN WOMEN DRESS UP TO GO TO THE SWAP MEET?"

This sounded like a great column, so I located it online.
