This is so fucking ridiculous! At least that shitbag will have to cut his flowing locks. Does this mean that Jon May will cut his too?

well it certainly means i can. i grew them for johnny. but roden, why don't you like johnny?

jon may | Tue, 12/20/2005 - 11:10pm

I don't like Damon mainly due to his association with the Red Sox and a general aura that I get from him due to my limited experience with him. I dislike most of the 2004 Sox. I really dislike Schilling. However, for some odd reason I like Ortiz.

I realize that baseball is mostly about the money and these guys probably all like each other off the field, but there is something that doesn't sit well with me about Damon (or any of the recent Sox) being in pinstripes, although I am sure he will probably be a good addition to the team.

this is a ridiculous move on the yankees' part. i mean, they're known for ridiculous moves, but this is just stupid. $16 million for a bernie williams replacement -- who's going to be as old and useless as bernie williams in 4 years. $16 million for a player who has already peaked. $16 million for a player without the words CY YOUNG on his resume.

i have no problem with the sox office for this one. johnny's an opportunistic greedy shithead who cheated on his wife and now cheated on us. $16 fucking million? that's what it was going to take?! i would have been pissed if they had given him that.

now we have an extra $8 or $9 million to throw at a 1-year contract for clemens.

ps johnny, have fun getting along with A-Rod.

pps. because the lineup was the yankees' problem last year.

ppps. because that's how the White Sox won the world series -- with a lot of pop from their lead-off hitter.

pppps. fucking yankee shitheads.

I wonder how Johnny Wong feels about all this.

DoorFrame | Wed, 12/21/2005 - 6:32am

johnny wong is not happy.

ppppppps. yes i realize now my math was wrong. the actual numbers weren't available to me until i read the paper this morning. last night, it was assumed the deal was between 13-16 million because the sox had already offerred 10.

13 million is STILL too much to pay that loser.

I am not too upset by this. While it is odd that Damon will be in pinstripes, at least he's not going there to win a world series. He already did that. Plus, the Yanks really don't need another bat. They need pitching. Their starting rotation is one year older. You telling me that Small and Wang and Chacon are really going to shore up that rotation. Plus old Johnson and Pavano? Seriously, does that sound like a good starting rotation at all? Anyone Yankee fans out there feel confidant about that? Of course, the Red Sox are going to suck next year as well, but what can you do. At least we can enjoy the fact that we have won a world series this century. Enjoy already-peaked Damon. And enjoy watching his ass decline the next four years.

Playing for the yankees is a lot like being invited to go
to Harvard if you are a student. It's flattering, and
most people if offered the chance to go to Harvard (assuming
they could pay for it, or their expenses would be paid)
would do it. Likewise, among baseball players, everyone
would probably respect your decision to go play for
the Yankees. Just as people don't like the Yankees,
there are people who don't like people who go to
Harvard.

Ways playing for the yankees is like going to harvard:
1) largest endowment
2) zero tolerance drug policy...unless you're somebody important...and if they catch you...and can't manage to sweep it under the rug...so actually don't worry about it
3) lots of stupid people in the media write uninformed stories about how good you are based on rumors and assumptions associated with your institution
4) relatively high percentage of asians, especially for the east coast
5) people from boston generally dislike you

Ways playing for the yankees is not like going to harvard:
1) harvard has a nice campus in a safe neighborhood. The yankees have a toilet bowl in a shithole.
2) harvard students are allowed to have long hair and beards
3) if harvard decides they don't want you anymore, chances are they aren't going to pick up any part of your tuition at columbia in exchange for a high school senior to be named later.
4) when you leave the yankees your projected earnings go down.

that's all i got

good list, jm. you forgot that playing for the yankees is a lot like going to harvard because it means you're a douchebag with no redeemable value as a human being.

jbg. | Wed, 12/21/2005 - 12:02pm

cf no. 5 on ways they are similar.

jon may | Wed, 12/21/2005 - 12:06pm

me and bones have redeemable value!!!
only redeemable at select Walmarts, though.

#5 is a suggestion of a particular type of person's personal opinion.
