No Longer Grateful
For years, archive.org hosted thousands of soundboard recordings of Grateful Dead concerts; now they've been forced to take them down, and Deadheads are angry and threatening boycott. John Perry Barlow, co-founder of the Elelectronic Frontier Foundation and a fellow of the Berkman Center, isn't happy about it.

somehow i doubt the hippie Dheads will manage to either remain angry or organize an effective protest. they'll all, like, forget.
Or, even more likely, they'll all, like, die.
as both a huge fan of the Dead and a frequent reader of this blog, I challenge you both to a duel. Pick the time and place.
And Marco, thanks for the info. I don't know if that was a direct appeal to me, but it sure felt like one, and now my heart's all warm.
Peace.
fuck peace you crapass hippie.
not to worry, they recanted, except for soundboard recordings.

but TO worry, why are the soundboard recordings, which the band has previously granted permission to distribute, not covered? they're the same as any other fan recording, the band holds the copyright to EVERY live recording. why are these special?
