Libby indicted; Rove next?
"Scooter" Libby indicted, resigns; click for the PDF of the indictment. The rumor mill says that Rove was supposed to be indicted today as well, but his lawyer provided last minute evidence to hold it off -- hence, the continuing investigation. If he does get indicted, I assume he'll immediately resign as well.

Why must reporters insist on retaining the "Scooter?" It adds a little interest to the name, but come on. Seems a little sensationalist too me... as if they like Scooter because it sounds more like a mob informant name or something... makes it all seem kind of silly and childish.
Bush just spoke about the indictment, and referred to him as "Scooter."
"Asked about the Mr. Cheney's role in case, Mr. Fitzgerald said "We make no allegations that the vice president conducted any criminal act.""
-So what exactly to make of this whole component? I mean, I really don't know...
by the way, does fitzgerald not look like he's about to blow chunks in that picture?:

Well, it's only playing to Bush and co.'s advantage to call him "Scooter."
You would not want your good drinking buddy, "Pooch," put in jail either,
now would you?
nice little statement from Bush today (I love when we get to see the approach to the podium- SUCH charisma!) in which he said absolutely nothing for a total of 30 seconds... not that there was anything he could say...
Speaking as a recovering member of the media, I suspect they call him "Scooter" because that's how he's known professionally. Style guides usually say to do that.
