One Star Reviews

One star amazon.com reviews of several books that were listed among the Top 100 Novels in Time magazine. E.g., The Great Gatsby: “It grieves me deeply that we Americans should take as our classic a book that is no more than a lengthy description of the doings of fops.”

How about just the normal dictionary.

This idea is a little confusing-- as these were just a few individuals
one-star reviews of books-- not the average opinion. But, yes. Toni
Morrison's Beloved is over-rated.

Lolita: "Also, to sum it up, it’s a story about a pedophile."

That's a pretty good point.

i'm now a regular crazymonk reader. i check it once a day. do you have a script or option that posts the last 10 comments (a la rumorsdaily)? you have a lot of posts and i'm not smart enough to figure out which ones have new comments.

why don't you subscribe to the rss comment feed? Jon said he's had problems with the feed, but I just tested it on bloglines and it works fine.

I don't think RSS feeds show which threads have been commented on, only when there are new threads available. I think Nacho's looking for the old RumorsDaily hack to allow you see the most recently commented threads (recrep=x where x was the greatest number of hours since the most recent reply in order for the thread to be displayed).

But comon Nacho, it's not that hard... assuming people aren't commenting on the old threads at all.

I have two feeds -- one that shows the newest stories, and one that shows the newest comments. I just tested the comment feed again to make sure, but it definitely gives the most recent comments. This is essentially how I check for new comments (although I get an email, which is more immediate).

I'm not going to make it operate like the BRD forum -- sorry.

How do you get Firefox to pick up the Comments feed as RSS and not just a regular bookmark? I see it over there in the corner, but I don't know how to get Firefox to access it.

Not sure, I don't use firefox for rss, I use bloglines. Usually, you should be able to copy the rss url and add it directly to your rss browser.
