Radical cartography

A neat set of maps that are both visually attractive and informative. Examples: what the Boston subway system should look like; suicide rates in the US broken down by gender -- the Vegas area has one of the highest rates for men; and an overlay comparison of the US and Europe. (via kottke)

The Boston subway map ALMOST has something I always wanted. If that Yellow line ran to the airport from both the North and the South (making it a circle line), it would be almost exactly what I've been arguing for.

doorframe, the other boston subway map "t improvements" has a non circle line that connects north and south stations to the airport and the a major t stop in the central network.

the guy is right though, the t was made out of necessity, not convenience. the "silver" line is a 10 year project just to connect boylston with south station. i have since moved into and out of an area where that would have been convenient.
